Opened in a break in the clouds. However about an hour later the clouds had filled in. There was nothing threatening about them, so we tried to push through them. Got data during the following times: 18:52-19:41 21:45-22:00 22:30-23:04 Wind was a bit strong. Stayed within bounds for the most part, with a handful of gusts in the red. Kept an eye on the pmss for signs of trouble, but all seemed ok (although a bit noisy). During Tspec cals for NM09, the enclosure interlock tripped even though there was no power flicker while motors were stopped. Reset was quick, it was just a mystery why it tripped in the first place; the controller was fine. During the NM09 observations there was one strong wind gust. As the next observers were slewing to their first target, two more strong gusts appeared so I closed the dome. Very high winds, high dust, and high humidity rounded out the morning, and we never reopened. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:08 dis-slit 392( -38) 294 24 3.7 4.1 4.4 4.2 3.8 -- 2.90 01:00 TSPEC 525( 162) 239 53 2.4 2.4 2.9 2.5 2.1 Ks 1.40 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 40 16 36 237 (WSW) 433 cloudy none 17:00 38 17 23 242 (WSW) 298 cloudy none 18:00 38 16 24 224 (SW) 404 cloudy none 19:00 39 17 22 239 (WSW) 347 mstly cldy none 20:00 39 17 23 259 (W) 352 cloudy none 21:00 40 17 20 252 (WSW) 356 mstly cldy none 22:00 39 17 24 252 (WSW) 375 mstly cldy none 23:00 38 19 25 221 (SW) 417 mstly cldy none 00:00 36 19 29 208 (SSW) 676 ptly cldy none 01:00 36 22 32 234 (SW) 1306 ptly cldy none 02:00 33 19 41 273 (W) 2272 ptly cldy none 03:00 31 17 26 270 (W) 46649 ptly cldy dust 04:00 29 16 32 256 (WSW) 8138 ptly cldy none 05:00 27 17 30 279 (W) 7114 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
