The first half observer noticed that the DIS slitview images were transfering slow and eventually backing up in a queue. We hobbled around the problem and I noted that the problem was with the internet connection in CA to MI. The second half observer also noted similiar internet connection problems with the Echelle slitviewer, again problems starting in CA. I had the observer turn off their slitviewer and just slew, since the echelle objects tend to be bright and obvious. I ran the guider for them. They also noted, not suprising, that their Echelle data was slow in coming to them. There was a smell of smoke in the air this morning and a definate haze. Probably from the huge fire in Az. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:42 dis-slit 354( 643) -1 75 17.8 19.4 18.4 18.4 18.3 -- 1.20 22:47 dis-slit 161( 339) -86 58 17.0 17.1 17.3 16.8 17.0 -- 1.20 01:19 ECHELLE 196( -738) -79 72 16.2 16.1 16.4 15.9 15.9 ND3 0.90 03:01 ECHELLE 182( -727) 14 27 15.3 15.4 15.6 14.9 15.2 ND2 2.10 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 18:00 72 27 20 265 (W) 1538 clear none 19:00 69 24 20 281 (W) 2393 clear none 20:00 65 22 26 274 (W) 2648 clear none 21:00 64 21 24 273 (W) 2076 clear none 22:00 64 20 21 292 (WNW) 2341 clear none 23:00 62 20 10 278 (W) 2510 clear none 00:00 62 19 16 294 (WNW) 2212 clear none 01:00 61 19 15 295 (WNW) 2313 clear none 02:00 61 19 10 293 (WNW) 2405 clear none 03:00 60 19 15 291 (WNW) 2291 clear none 04:00 59 18 14 292 (WNW) 2191 clear none 05:00 58 20 8 284 (WNW) 2071 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
