Apollo team opted not to risk the weather and gave their time to CU02. First drops of rain on the site occured around 22:30 MT, accompanied by nearby lightning strikes ~15km. Second and third observers were not able to get on sky. Third observer noticed that arc flats with DIS were wrong, the lines were slanted about 45 degrees from vertical. Ultimately homing the grating turret, then returning to original settings did not seem to do anything. Reconfiguring the grating file seemed to work okay. This is probably related to on going issues with the DIS turret motor. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 71 41 4 225 (SW) 1231 mstly cldy none 17:00 73 40 8 194 (SSW) 1360 mstly cldy none 18:00 59 39 17 89 (E) 1395 mstly cldy none 19:00 58 36 14 91 (E) 1171 mstly cldy none 20:00 62 32 10 98 (E) 1255 mstly cldy none 21:00 63 28 19 125 (SE) 1084 cloudy none 22:00 62 33 17 143 (SE) 1303 cloudy lt rain 23:00 50 42 25 34 (NE) 1685 cloudy lt rain 00:00 52 41 20 71 (ENE) 1063 cloudy lt rain 01:00 60 31 1 189 (S) 1049 cloudy lt rain 02:00 55 37 16 42 (NE) 1146 mstly cldy none 03:00 55 36 7 352 (N) 998 mstly cldy none 04:00 53 37 20 155 (SSE) 912 mstly cldy none 05:00 60 31 8 282 (WNW) 2097 mstly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
