I could not get stars on echelle or even NA2 guider. All covers open, everything pointed at the right port etc. Since there was loss of utility power during the day and the generator did not kick on right away, the shop air had gone down. Bill suggested I might need to home E axis. I did that but didn't help. I tried homing all the tert axes, looking through the NA2 port at bright stars. Nothing was making sense. I was getting no errors at all but no stars either. Eventually we discovered the alt drive was not making corrections, and the telescope thought it was ~6.3 degrees off in Alt from what it should be (The 45 degree magnasensor was at 38.7 degrees). I reset the position by visually looking at the magnasensors and then final got on sky at 11 pm. Rest of the night went smooth except for clouds. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PU03 E T/H/ 20:30 23:10 alt magnesensors lost ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 22:58 ECHELLE 353( -458) 276 30 17.7 17.5 17.8 17.4 17.5 1.81 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 76 30 15 259 (W) 702 ptly cldy none 17:00 73 28 14 267 (W) 656 ptly cldy none 18:00 71 27 18 250 (WSW) 1189 ptly cldy none 19:00 68 25 18 260 (W) 1804 ptly cldy none 20:00 66 25 22 254 (WSW) 1357 ptly cldy none 21:00 65 25 24 266 (W) 1663 ptly cldy none 22:00 64 24 25 265 (W) 1617 ptly cldy none 23:00 63 24 18 263 (W) 1387 ptly cldy none 00:00 63 24 18 273 (W) 1316 ptly cldy none 01:00 63 24 16 289 (WNW) 1255 mstly cldy none 02:00 63 24 14 297 (WNW) 1306 mstly cldy none 03:00 62 24 12 297 (WNW) 1181 mstly clr none 04:00 61 25 15 298 (WNW) 1167 mstly clr none 05:00 61 25 13 290 (WNW) 1305 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
