DIS blue started to warm during the previous day, apparently from a vacuum problem. The first half observers had a backup program ready to go, but putting DIS on the pump before sunset appeared very successful so we started with the original plan. Unfortunately, once off the pump it started to warm again so only a few science exposures with DIS were possible. When DIS blue got warm enough to necessitate turning off the electronics, we lost a little time discovering that the DIS ICC wouldn't let half the instrument run without the other half. So we switched to the backup program. The second half observer didn't have an alternate instrument program ready to go, so he gave the time to another CU program instead. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CU04 D I/H 22:30 22:50 DIS b warm, can't run half inst ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:17 dis-slit 233( -213) 146 77 4.4 7.3 5.8 5.8 5.5 - 1.48 23:12 SPICAM 167( -142) -12 59 5.0 4.8 5.1 4.6 4.8 R 1.43 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 52 12 9 181 (S) 767 clear none 17:00 50 11 10 252 (WSW) 785 clear none 18:00 51 10 9 212 (SSW) 823 clear none 19:00 45 8 6 185 (S) 880 clear none 20:00 40 7 17 150 (SSE) 903 clear none 21:00 40 3 18 161 (SSE) 864 clear none 22:00 41 5 18 179 (S) 1143 clear none 23:00 41 7 20 180 (S) 1308 clear none 00:00 41 6 14 178 (S) 1111 clear none 01:00 40 6 15 170 (S) 1043 clear none 02:00 38 7 14 174 (S) 961 clear none 03:00 37 7 6 185 (S) 1007 clear none 04:00 37 6 11 187 (S) 1000 clear none 05:00 39 6 8 182 (S) 1108 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
