I had to manually move the turret for 2nd half observer. Lost about 24 mins in the process. Turret motor will be inspected, by the day staff, tomorrow. Please put B400/R300 gratings in place if not able to repair. PR Submitted. Mirror covers needed to be cycled at switch box on telescope, eyelids worked under remote control but not mirror covers. Resetting fixed problem. We had heavier cirrus at the start of the night, it cleared out for a while then we dealt with thinner cirrus towards the end of the night. Clouds formed in the East at the end of the night and made APOLLO observations uhm... challenging. DIS slitview stars looked normal tonight (we had worse seeing than last night). ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- NM05 D I/H 01:10 01:34 Manual move DIS turret due to failure. ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:35 dis-slit 257( 572) 41 71 16.3 18.0 17.0 16.9 16.9 -- 1.15 21:51 dis-slit 52( 299) 240 60 16.4 16.5 16.6 15.9 16.1 -- 1.00 01:37 dis-slit 8( 147) 175 63 14.8 14.4 14.8 14.1 14.3 -- 1.70 04:25 APOLLO 200( 855) 141 73 12.8 12.9 13.0 12.4 12.6 -- 1.80 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 74 35 23 227 (SW) 2331 mstly cldy none 17:00 66 27 30 261 (W) 1504 mstly cldy none 18:00 68 30 21 264 (W) 1814 ptly cldy none 19:00 67 29 25 254 (WSW) 1786 ptly cldy none 20:00 63 23 29 265 (W) 5173 ptly cldy none 21:00 62 22 23 253 (WSW) 1751 ptly cldy none 22:00 62 18 29 258 (WSW) 1471 mstly clr none 23:00 60 18 12 269 (W) 1418 mstly clr none 00:00 59 19 20 261 (W) 1517 mstly clr none 01:00 59 17 24 266 (W) 1438 ptly cldy none 02:00 58 17 18 264 (W) 1541 ptly cldy none 03:00 57 15 19 267 (W) 1776 ptly cldy none 04:00 56 15 18 250 (WSW) 1673 ptly cldy none 05:00 54 15 15 249 (WSW) 1615 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
