Seeing on echelle and dis were decent, but tspec was all over the place. It was very difficult to focus, and I ended up focusing by hand. Even then, the seeing was almost 3". The focus loop was unable to get a parabola with a good fit, and more than once the star drifted off the boresight and then the loop failed entirely. I didn't trust the results the loop came up with, so tried by hand and didn't get much better. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:39 TSPEC 317( 180) 124 36 5.6 6.4 6.9 6.1 5.3 -- 1.80 19:53 ECHELLE 474( -994) 121 48 5.2 5.2 5.7 5.0 4.8 ND3 1.10 21:10 TSPEC 451( 207) 124 63 5.6 5.0 5.5 4.9 5.0 -- 2.10 22:07 ECHELLE 537( -965) 132 71 5.9 4.9 5.4 4.9 4.9 ND3 1.00 23:25 TSPEC 500( 301) 187 79 6.6 6.0 6.3 6.3 6.2 -- 2.80 01:09 dis-slit 402( 11) 120 44 5.9 5.6 6.0 5.4 5.4 -- 1.70 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 45 7 13 336 (NNW) 281 ptly cldy none 17:00 42 8 15 355 (N) 276 ptly cldy none 18:00 42 8 11 352 (N) 234 clear none 19:00 41 9 12 23 (NNE) 279 clear none 20:00 42 7 7 24 (NNE) 237 clear none 21:00 41 6 20 12 (NNE) 258 clear none 22:00 44 0 18 14 (NNE) 217 mstly clr none 23:00 43 -1 12 63 (ENE) 178 ptly cldy none 00:00 45 -1 5 183 (S) 159 ptly cldy none 01:00 41 1 8 190 (S) 203 clear none 02:00 38 4 3 169 (S) 233 clear none 03:00 42 2 11 206 (SSW) 217 clear none 04:00 39 7 9 199 (SSW) 220 clear none 05:00 40 10 9 222 (SW) 260 clear none 06:00 41 8 6 229 (SW) 269 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
