With snow on the dome but no ice, and a very cold telescope, we had no special wind limit, but even the normal wind limit was a problem for a while. Finally we had a combination of lower winds and mostly clear skies so we were able to open for a while. Seeing was bad at first, eventually coming down to more moderate numbers but never good. Everything worked well except that the shutter doors made dreadful squeaky noises on opening that made me nervous - fortunately there was no problem closing when the wind picked up again and too much snow started getting into the dome. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 00:10 dis-slit 400( -660) -47 47 -8.6 -7.5 -7.2 -7.3 -8.7 - 2.50 01:15 AGILE -1125(-2713) 57 83 -8.6 -8.5 -8.2 -8.6 -8.8 BG40 1.20 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 18 14 21 58 (ENE) 740 mstly cldy lt snow 17:00 16 13 14 56 (NE) 646 mstly cldy lt snow 18:00 16 11 19 92 (E) 541 ptly cldy lt snow 19:00 16 10 36 71 (ENE) 705 ptly cldy none 20:00 16 5 26 63 (ENE) 406 ptly cldy none 21:00 16 0 19 70 (ENE) 245 ptly cldy none 22:00 17 -6 21 63 (ENE) 315 ptly cldy none 23:00 16 -2 20 55 (NE) 327 ptly cldy none 00:00 16 2 24 58 (ENE) 346 mstly clr none 01:00 17 5 24 46 (NE) 275 mstly clr none 02:00 15 8 20 57 (ENE) 304 clear none 03:00 17 8 32 54 (NE) 357 clear none 04:00 19 8 31 49 (NE) 1065 clear none 05:00 19 7 35 59 (ENE) 374 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
