First half: a few clitches with ecam. I've appended info onto PR#1274. Second half: when I switched to DIS, we couldn't find stars. Light was getting through but the images looked strange (See dcam files 0033 and 0038). I couldn't focus with dis at all. I then found that when I had send the set inst command it was coming back with this error: 06:58:51 .tcc.0 0 tcc F Modu="prt_Write"; Text="ss$_Hangup: received unsolicited character or ^Y on port NTY39:" 06:58:51 .tcc.0 0 tcc F Modu="prt_Resynch"; Text="failed to send first flush command" I called Fritz and he said the errors had something to do with tcc and gcam. He fixed that, but that wasn't the problem. The images looked as if the tertiary was not pointing to the right place, there were reflections. I tried homing the tertiary. I tried correcting pointing. I switched to the NA2 guider. I could not focus with DIS but I could with gcam. Eventually... 2 hours later... I figured out it was only DIS that had the problem. When I went up to have a look at DIS I discovered the slit wheel was not installed properly... or rather it had recently been taken out and not re-installed properly. After reinstallation everything worked as expected. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- UC05 D I/H 01:03 03:06 DIS slit wheel not re-installed properly ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:34 ECHELLE 539( -444) 142 75 11.3 15.1 14.0 14.8 12.2 1.09 20:40 ECHELLE 321( -779) 193 78 10.9 12.8 12.2 12.2 11.0 0.86 03:15 dis-slit 268( 44) 22 56 9.6 9.2 9.6 9.2 9.3 0.99 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 62 39 11 271 (W) 1365 cloudy none 17:00 59 37 2 208 (SSW) 1143 ptly cldy none 18:00 62 38 11 221 (SW) 1129 ptly cldy none 19:00 53 35 9 153 (SSE) 973 ptly cldy none 20:00 52 34 14 129 (SE) 1025 mstly clr none 21:00 52 35 13 142 (SE) 924 mstly clr none 22:00 52 34 16 142 (SE) 871 clear none 23:00 51 35 18 147 (SSE) 841 clear none 00:00 50 38 17 139 (SE) 1280 clear none 01:00 50 39 16 138 (SE) 1295 clear none 02:00 50 39 15 146 (SE) 1284 clear none 03:00 50 39 17 153 (SSE) 1096 clear none 04:00 49 38 12 178 (S) 1065 clear none 05:00 49 38 7 179 (S) 938 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
