First observer took his cals, then we waited 30 minutes before opening the dome and allowing him 2.5 hours of observing time. At midnight humidity rose and temperatures dropped too close to dew point. Dome was closed and remained so for the duration of the evening. Second observer managed to take DIS cals but dome remained closed. Telescope Operators took cals for UW13 but were unable to open dome due to unsafe conditions mentioned above. Despite poor weather the telescope operated well, as opposed to previous night (see night log 20100815). ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:57 ECHELLE -275( -370) 165 79 15.5 17.4 16.5 16.4 16.3 - 1.58 ------------- Weather LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 67 52 13 98 (E) mstly clr none 17:00 67 51 12 76 (ENE) mstly clr none 18:00 66 50 14 83 (E) mstly clr none 19:00 64 53 12 80 (E) mstly clr none 20:00 62 53 17 76 (ENE) mstly clr none 21:00 61 53 19 71 (ENE) mstly clr none 22:00 60 53 10 81 (E) mstly clr none 23:00 59 54 16 81 (E) mstly clr none 00:00 59 54 16 82 (E) mstly clr humid 01:00 58 54 15 121 (ESE) mstly clr humid 02:00 58 54 12 118 (ESE) mstly clr humid 03:00 57 54 16 112 (ESE) mstly clr humid 04:00 57 54 17 110 (ESE) mstly clr humid Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
