It hadn't been leveled in a couple months. My 2nd half observer reported that the AB positions on the TSPEC slit seemed to have moved from images he took on 9-28-2009 UT. The A and B positions were equidistant on the older images. On the images tonight the A position was much closer to the end of the slit than the B was from the other end. He was using the 1.5 arc sec slit tonight and the 1.1 arc sec slit in Sept. We found that the 1.1 arc slit is slightly longer (to the left of the boresight, same end position on right side) than the 1.5 arc sec slit which may account for the observation. Apparently the A and B positions are not perfectly equidistant from the edges either on the 1.1 slit. No problems otherwise. ------------- FAILURE LOG -------------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (STEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:00 SPICAM 75( 182) 151 48 3.9 4.9 4.2 3.6 3.9 R 1.90 19:03 NA2gdr -1234(28765) 151 49 4.0 4.8 4.2 3.5 3.8 clear 2.20 21:43 SPICAM 129( 137) 175 60 4.0 3.1 3.4 2.5 3.1 R 1.30 21:44 NA2gdr 276(30276) 176 60 4.0 3.1 3.4 2.5 3.1 clear 1.50 00:18 TSPEC 145( 196) 62 32 1.5 2.2 2.2 1.3 1.7 Ks 1.50 00:20 NA2gdr -256(33743) 62 32 1.7 2.1 2.2 1.3 1.7 clear 1.90 01:16 TSPEC 182( 182) 122 44 2.0 1.5 1.8 0.8 1.4 Ks 1.80 02:40 TSPEC 177( 127) 22 52 0.4 0.8 0.9 0.0 0.4 Ks 1.30 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 43 20 8 218 (SW) 738 ptly cldy none 17:00 42 18 21 236 (SW) 696 ptly cldy none 18:00 39 19 23 214 (SW) 745 ptly cldy none 19:00 39 18 18 218 (SW) 694 ptly cldy none 20:00 39 18 18 225 (SW) 803 ptly cldy none 21:00 39 19 19 213 (SSW) 807 ptly cldy none 22:00 39 19 18 216 (SW) 828 ptly cldy none 23:00 39 18 20 236 (SW) 969 ptly cldy none 00:00 36 18 19 233 (SW) 663 ptly cldy none 01:00 35 17 11 256 (WSW) 607 ptly cldy none 02:00 34 17 13 266 (W) 628 clear none 03:00 33 19 15 265 (W) 636 clear none 04:00 32 19 17 278 (W) 647 clear none 05:00 32 17 20 270 (W) 526 clear none 06:00 31 14 19 267 (W) 503 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
