I ran some alt. sweeps for Nick while we were closed tonight. Both the up/down sweeps and tracking sweep he requested. When we did open we found the stars to not be tracking correctly (I saw this problem a few weeks ago when the corrections were not being applied to the alt drive). Sure enough that was the problem. A call to Fritz and he had things working in a few mins. Unfortunately we also had a sticky slitviewer shutter which didn't make the tracking problem immediately obvious. This cost us about 40 mins or so of time and unfortunatelly not enough time was left for the 1st half to get any science. After several minutes the slitviewer shutter started working better. Shutter seemed to work much better all of 2nd half with only a few blank frames. ------------- FAILURE LOG -------------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (STEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- UC05 D T/S 00:20 01:00 Alt corrections not being applied. ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 01:16 dis-slit 315( -223) 108 39 -4.1 -3.5 -3.2 -4.0 -3.8 -- 2.00 03:39 dis-slit 261( -352) -128 85 -4.5 -4.3 -4.0 -4.8 -4.5 -- 1.70 03:47 NA2gdr 1075(23075) -119 84 -4.3 -4.4 -4.0 -4.8 -4.5 clear 2.00 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 30 20 0 342 (NNW) 74 cloudy humid 17:00 29 24 1 231 (SW) 857 cloudy humid 18:00 33 27 7 257 (WSW) 919 cloudy humid 19:00 27 23 5 80 (E) 362 ptly cldy humid 20:00 26 22 2 334 (NNW) 134 ptly cldy humid 21:00 24 22 17 57 (ENE) 64 mstly clr humid 22:00 24 20 23 59 (ENE) 207 clear humid 23:00 23 20 18 45 (NE) 166 clear humid 00:00 25 19 24 54 (NE) 108 clear none 01:00 26 19 9 84 (E) 158 clear none 02:00 25 20 17 43 (NE) 260 clear none 03:00 25 18 18 60 (ENE) 496 clear none 04:00 25 17 16 57 (ENE) 831 clear none 05:00 24 15 7 68 (ENE) 741 clear none 06:00 22 16 12 35 (NE) 753 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
