Light dusting of snow into the afternoon. While preparing to open after the radar returns moved away the cloudcam had trouble starting. Power cycling fixed the cloudcam. High humidity caused terrible seeing for first half and the DIS slitviewer shutter was sticking on every other image. Focusing had to be done manually through iraf due to the shutter problem. Although it is a known cold weather problem the instrument was nearly unusable. Seeing was much better second half and continued to improve the rest of the night. While closing the mirror covers at the end of the night they failed to respond. Resetting had no affect. See PR1206. Parked facing south to melt any residual snow. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:38 dis-slit 438( -698) -40 44 -10.4 -7.3 -5.4 -8.9 -8.9 -- 2.87 00:07 ECHELLE 126(-2119) -58 76 -10.3 -10.0 -9.7 -10.7 -10.3 ND3 1.33 04:47 TSPEC 201( -828) -65 65 -10.3 -10.8 -10.3 -11.3 -10.7 -- 1.01 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 15 7 21 312 (NW) 507 cloudy lt snow 17:00 13 11 6 327 (NNW) 1437 cloudy humid 18:00 13 10 15 341 (NNW) 378 cloudy lt snow 19:00 14 10 13 334 (NNW) 324 mstly cldy humid 20:00 13 10 16 29 (NNE) 286 clear humid 21:00 13 9 27 23 (NNE) 277 clear humid 22:00 14 6 20 60 (ENE) 236 clear none 23:00 15 5 14 35 (NE) 334 clear none 00:00 14 5 7 53 (NE) 272 clear none 01:00 14 5 4 356 (N) 252 clear none 02:00 14 5 5 346 (NNW) 237 clear none 03:00 13 5 1 350 (N) 297 clear none 04:00 13 4 3 313 (NW) 264 clear none 05:00 14 4 12 352 (N) 253 clear none 06:00 14 3 11 12 (NNE) 288 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
