I had my observers rotate 180 deg at 133 deg rotation had NICFPS readout block problem again. We rotated instrument to a better position. My first half observer noted a very low level of banding in the echelle biases(/export/images/Q4UW13/UT101117/BiasEchelle.1502.fits). He hadn't sen this in the past. I compared to last nights biases for the eAur program and indeed something has changed. Biases took 3 hrs later did not show the effect anymore. 100 deg rotation caused NICFPS to have the bad readout error again We had problems with the NA2 guider tonight. PR submitted. A windy second half of the night. The two lower covers for APOLLO box (not UTAH box but other) blew off. There was some cloth and foam as well on the ground. I didn't know where that went (if it went in the APOLLO box at all). I left the covers on the workbench. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:48 NICFPS 267( 946) -19 63 1.4 2.6 1.3 2.2 2.1 J 1.10 00:36 ECHELLE 104( -857) 116 57 0.9 0.6 0.9 0.4 0.6 ND2 1.38 03:27 NICFPS -34( 547) 116 54 0.8 0.4 0.8 0.2 0.5 Ks 1.40 03:32 NA2gdr -4442(38557) 116 55 0.7 0.4 0.8 0.2 0.5 clear 2.80 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 38 17 18 260 (W) 499 clear none 17:00 35 17 19 261 (W) 589 clear none 18:00 35 16 17 259 (W) 923 clear none 19:00 35 17 14 254 (WSW) 1279 clear none 20:00 35 18 26 288 (WNW) 961 clear none 21:00 34 18 18 286 (WNW) 673 clear none 22:00 32 19 16 290 (WNW) 769 clear none 23:00 35 18 8 303 (WNW) 1058 clear none 00:00 34 18 14 348 (NNW) 964 clear none 01:00 33 18 15 331 (NNW) 1115 clear none 02:00 33 19 14 29 (NNE) 1112 clear none 03:00 33 19 14 343 (NNW) 997 clear none 04:00 33 20 28 3 (N) 714 clear none 05:00 31 20 4 34 (NE) 776 clear none 06:00 31 20 22 4 (N) 810 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
