Seeing was poor >4.5 arc sec at the start of the night. It settled to around 3 arc sec by midnight and improved to around 1.7 arc sec by 03:00. Skies were clear with one spike in humidity, which we worked thru. DIS ion pumps were showing several LED during the night, they would then go away. Probably a whisker in the pump. I told Bill about it as well this morning. Used APOLLO time for engineering since Space Command halted laser usage for this morning. We checked collimation and fixed pointing on Agile and APOLLO. DIS slitviewer sticky shutter was back tonight. My observers reported one out of every several images were blank (closed shutter). ------------- FAILURE LOG -------------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (STEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:23 dis-slit -172( 140) -10 57 3.3 7.0 5.7 5.7 4.6 -- 4.75 00:50 dis-slit 62( 14) -18 70 0.4 0.1 0.5 -0.3 0.1 -- 4.30 02:59 SPICAM 67( 308) 4 57 1.4 0.7 1.2 0.5 1.0 r' 1.80 03:00 NA2gdr 2092(32092) 4 57 1.2 0.7 1.1 0.5 1.0 R 1.70 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 48 19 12 32 (NNE) 309 clear none 17:00 47 19 9 52 (NE) 233 clear none 18:00 46 15 6 348 (NNW) 278 clear none 19:00 39 28 24 72 (ENE) 1487 clear none 20:00 37 28 32 70 (ENE) 1369 clear none 21:00 35 28 30 64 (ENE) 1316 clear none 22:00 34 28 29 57 (ENE) 1294 clear none 23:00 33 28 9 74 (ENE) 1262 clear none 00:00 33 28 26 75 (ENE) 1051 clear humid 01:00 33 28 26 60 (ENE) 698 clear none 02:00 34 23 24 63 (ENE) 311 clear none 03:00 35 21 19 70 (ENE) 153 clear none 04:00 35 21 24 61 (ENE) 141 clear none 05:00 35 21 24 58 (ENE) 163 clear none 06:00 35 19 24 58 (ENE) 135 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
