Although it was safe to remain open until twilight, the second half observer had faint targets and was able to integrate less than half the time through the clouds. After several motion errors during afternoon test slews, the telescope settled down and behaved perfectly for observing. During a period of better seeing, I determined that the DIS red spectrograph focus is just beginning to disagree slightly with the slitviewer and blue spectrograph focus, so a seasonal focus adjustment will be made soon. ------------- FAILURE LOG -------------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (STEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:11 dis-slit 130( 531) 93 58 10.5 13.2 11.7 11.5 11.7 1.10 01:12 dis-slit 115( 344) 316 42 9.9 9.2 9.8 8.9 9.5 1.30 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 57 20 18 291 (WNW) 190 clear none 17:00 58 19 5 264 (W) 196 clear none 18:00 54 21 8 298 (WNW) 230 clear none 19:00 52 18 7 264 (W) 257 clear none 20:00 51 15 7 261 (W) 201 clear none 21:00 52 15 7 260 (W) 251 clear none 22:00 51 18 11 210 (SSW) 251 clear none 23:00 51 19 10 245 (WSW) 334 clear none 00:00 50 18 10 231 (SW) 251 mstly clr none 01:00 49 17 10 215 (SW) 217 ptly cldy none 02:00 50 17 6 181 (S) 226 ptly cldy none 03:00 50 17 5 185 (S) 202 ptly cldy none 04:00 50 16 7 261 (W) 215 ptly cldy none 05:00 48 17 3 23 (NNE) 221 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
