Would take an exposure but stalled on readout. During checkout the altitude drive had problems. I think they were magna-sensor related or perhaps due to the UPS work today. The Dataq showed large errors (I believe in the Alt) as I started my initial slews. This caused the drives to halt abruptly. I heard something on the intercom as well. I tried another slew and it again halted. I then went up into the dome to do some slews in each axis. It slewed fine in Azimuth. The Azimuth slewed from about 50 deg down to about 30 degrees and then it started making a noise and halted the drive about 1/2 second later. I cautiously slewed the telescope upward and it worked fine. I then did several slews, in both axis, with no problems. If it happens again I will submit an official PR, but right now it is difficult to re-create the problem. Out of focus SPIcam image for Russet to check collimation. /export/images/Q4APO/UT1010005/Out_of_focus_1000.0026 I checked and corrected pointing, at NA2, it wasn't too far off. We seemed to be clearing the alt slip bit but not the az slip bit. Seeing was medeocre and variable once we opened. ------------- FAILURE LOG -------------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (STEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 04:43 SPICAM 44( 362) -19 56 8.1 9.3 9.8 8.5 8.7 R 1.70 04:49 NA2gdr 1095(31095) -21 55 7.8 9.2 9.7 8.4 8.6 clear 2.00 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:00 58 46 11 254 (WSW) 549 mstly cldy none 18:00 51 46 14 141 (SE) 693 mstly cldy none 19:00 49 45 13 112 (ESE) 648 ptly cldy humid 20:00 49 46 20 143 (SE) 612 ptly cldy humid 21:00 49 44 20 148 (SSE) 494 ptly cldy humid 22:00 48 44 21 143 (SE) 552 cloudy humid 23:00 45 45 1 283 (WNW) 18108 cloudy rain 00:00 44 44 6 162 (SSE) 1305 cloudy lt rain 01:00 48 41 15 186 (S) 776 mstly cldy none 02:00 48 42 17 155 (SSE) 925 ptly cldy none 03:00 47 41 10 184 (S) 930 ptly cldy none 04:00 47 39 15 169 (S) 984 ptly cldy none 05:00 47 39 7 180 (S) 627 ptly cldy none 06:00 49 40 4 177 (S) 608 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
