Pointing was good at all three instrument ports, although I did take an opportunity for some extra adjustment at Agile since the observer's event was late in second half. We had some difficulty with the Agile rotator just after changing instruments, so I had to coax it along -- but once I got it going, it behaved for the remainder of the night. During NICFPS testing I managed to induce one failure in many thousands of images, but this coincided with instrument handling so it's unclear if this is the same kind of failure we were seeing in the middle of observations. More tests with the instrument mounted on the telescope may be indicated. ------------- FAILURE LOG -------------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (STEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- UW02 P T/H 01:05 01:20 Agile rotator motion errors ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:59 dis-slit 239( 338) 202 74 6.2 7.2 6.6 6.5 6.4 1.40 20:08 ECHELLE 255( -631) 293 61 6.4 6.3 6.5 6.1 6.3 ND3 0.90 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 45 28 15 311 (NW) 304 ptly cldy none 17:00 45 28 10 271 (W) 301 ptly cldy none 18:00 46 29 15 266 (W) 259 ptly cldy none 19:00 43 29 16 235 (SW) 327 ptly cldy none 20:00 43 30 17 234 (SW) 413 ptly cldy none 21:00 43 31 15 244 (WSW) 547 ptly cldy none 22:00 42 30 12 245 (WSW) 515 ptly cldy none 23:00 43 31 10 260 (W) 406 ptly cldy none 00:00 41 31 16 258 (WSW) 368 mstly clr none 01:00 42 31 7 272 (W) 326 ptly cldy none 02:00 43 30 11 265 (W) 305 ptly cldy none 03:00 42 27 14 236 (SW) 241 ptly cldy none 04:00 40 28 14 247 (WSW) 291 mstly clr none 05:00 39 29 19 252 (WSW) 368 mstly clr none 06:00 40 30 18 276 (W) 360 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
