During first half I ran an in dome pointing model to exercise the new axis drives. It ended at UT06:30. APOLLO gave up their time due to hardware problems. I attempted to get some DIS spectra of SN2009ig however clouds were just too thick. At 02:15 I switched over to the echelle just as the skies became mostly clear. The observer got about 2 hours of usable data before the skies became mostly opaque again. I spent the next 90 minutes waiting for the clouds to thin enough to get a spectra of the SN but they never did in that part of the sky. At the start of twilight I switched back to the echelle and fought clouds to get a few spectra of Epsilon Aurigae. Clouds were even rather thick for this 3rd magnitude star. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 01:49 dis-slit 108( 303) 57 39 11.4 11.5 11.5 10.6 11.2 --- 1.44 02:35 ECHELLE -125( -658) 81 54 11.5 11.3 11.6 10.5 11.2 clear 1.16 05:29 ECHELLE -84( -661) 132 71 9.9 10.7 10.6 10.3 10.2 clear 1.07 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 48 47 14 94 (E) 1778 cloudy humid 17:00 49 47 8 94 (E) 1451 cloudy humid 18:00 50 44 8 176 (S) 734 cloudy humid 19:00 52 43 6 18 (NNE) 733 cloudy none 20:00 54 41 11 338 (NNW) 447 cloudy lt rain 21:00 55 39 13 32 (NNE) 387 cloudy lt rain 22:00 55 40 5 263 (W) 272 cloudy lt rain 23:00 54 40 6 234 (SW) 465 cloudy none 00:00 48 45 12 133 (SE) 635 cloudy none 01:00 52 42 2 201 (SSW) 658 ptly cldy none 02:00 53 41 2 203 (SSW) 645 mstly cldy none 03:00 50 42 3 169 (S) 640 mstly cldy none 04:00 51 41 8 186 (S) 635 cloudy none 05:00 52 40 8 208 (SSW) 555 cloudy none 06:00 50 44 3 193 (SSW) 715 mstly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
