During afternoon checkout Agile filter wheel would not connect. While trying to do the resetAgile.py Nimble hung. Tried the powercycleAgile.py and powercycleNimble.py via Newton but ping would not come back alive for Nimble. Monitor for Nimble said the file systems check failed: "Unexpected Inconsistency, RUN fsck MANUALLY". Fritz provided a fix. See PR #1026. During second half with Agile we encountered several problems. Luckily this was a trial run for this program. At first it seemed the pointing was off. Russet adjusted the tert tilts. Then we questioned when the rotator had been zeroed. I checked the tape. It was right on. Then it seemed that the focal plane was off 90 degrees. We suspected the camera had been reassembled incorrectly (like before) but the tape marked "Left Side" in the camera and mount matched. So now we suspect the instrument block is off. Later we discussed things and discovered the "zeroed" position was at rot 0 mount tonight, but should actually be at -90 mount. So last time the Agile rotator was zeroed, it was "zeroed" incorrectly. The filter wheel had been homed but would not move to any positions except #3 and #4. We thought perhaps the sandwiching was inhibiting rotation. I removed the wheel and inspected it and could see no way for the filters to be in the way. However, since the wheel is not screwed down inside the box (at -90, opening the door the wheel falls right out... luckily I had help so it was not dropped), it seems the wheel itself could slide around enough in the housing to not rotate properly. Whatever the cause, taking it out ant putting it back in seemed to fix it. Perhaps it's imbalanced as well. Happened again later, homing that time helped. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:58 dis-slit 247(798) -32 36 17.7 18.6 18.1 17.6 18.0 1.77 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 68 47 12 206 (SSW) 1596 ptly cldy none 17:00 69 47 16 213 (SSW) 1473 ptly cldy none 18:00 69 46 15 252 (WSW) 1694 ptly cldy none 19:00 66 44 10 214 (SW) 1565 ptly cldy none 20:00 63 39 12 267 (W) 1226 mstly clr none 21:00 64 37 15 237 (WSW) 1174 mstly clr none 22:00 64 37 12 225 (SW) 1266 mstly clr none 23:00 64 38 13 214 (SW) 1211 mstly clr none 00:00 63 37 10 228 (SW) 1401 mstly clr none 01:00 63 36 9 262 (W) 1691 ptly cldy none 02:00 62 37 15 237 (WSW) 1700 ptly cldy none 03:00 61 35 15 279 (W) 2082 ptly cldy none 04:00 60 35 12 277 (W) 2017 ptly cldy none 05:00 60 34 12 276 (W) 1765 mstly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
