Around 21:45 the skies cleared and we were able to open. The Apollo folks called in the afternoon to let me know they were giving up their time due to equipment problems. Because of the weather situation I am counting the time as lost to weather and not equipment. I turned over the telescope to Jeff around 23:00. I was just filling in until he could arrive on site. No problems. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: J.Coughlin Took over from Bill at 23:00. Had good skies with some light clouds coming in 30 min before scheduled switchover. First half observer handed it over about 10 minutes early. Had slowly increasing clouds second half, but they were not totally opaque and so observers got useful data until 03:00 when humidity rose and stayed above closure levels. I was able to re-open at 04:50 until twilight when humidity dropped. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------- 21:59 NICFPS 134( 1076) 21 77 14.9 15.2 15.3 14.8 14.9 H 1.08 22:01 NA2gdr -2480(40519) 19 77 14.9 15.2 15.3 14.7 15.0 clear 1.05 01:11 SPICAM 175( 750) -3 46 13.9 14.3 14.5 13.8 14.1 R 1.50 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 54 45 20 89 (E) 1609 ptly cldy rain 17:00 56 44 13 43 (NE) 1059 mstly cldy rain 18:00 57 42 21 71 (ENE) 961 cloudy none 19:00 60 42 23 22 (NNE) 872 cloudy none 20:00 61 37 19 73 (ENE) 973 mstly cldy none 21:00 60 37 13 82 (E) 860 ptly cldy none 22:00 59 38 14 113 (ESE) 820 mstly clr none 23:00 57 45 12 86 (E) 1802 clear none 00:00 59 38 12 116 (ESE) 1413 clear none 01:00 59 39 11 113 (ESE) 1541 mstly clr none 02:00 57 45 12 145 (SE) 2033 mstly cldy none 03:00 54 51 13 146 (SE) 2774 mstly cldy humid 04:00 54 52 10 159 (SSE) 2962 ptly cldy humid 05:00 54 50 8 183 (S) 2718 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
