Rising and falling dewpoint alternated with cloud cover until midsecond half thick ground fog formed. We never opened. Around 3am, my second half observers called it a night. I started a large in dome pointing model to test a hardware change to the azimuth controller / enclosure controller interface. Something happened during this pointing model where the telescope remained for many slews at 128 degrees azimuth without triggering any status bits to alert me that there was a problem. I emailed Frtiz about the problem, parked the telescope as best I could and called it a night. Likely is was a crash of the azimuth axis controller. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 76 41 13 228 (SW) 1610 cloudy none 17:00 69 40 20 216 (SW) 1329 mstly cldy rain 18:00 72 42 16 236 (SW) 1463 mstly cldy none 19:00 69 43 12 230 (SW) 1446 ptly cldy none 20:00 61 45 10 24 (NNE) 2611 ptly cldy none 21:00 20 72 (ENE) 1380 mstly clr humid 22:00 54 52 12 91 (E) 1222 cloudy humid 23:00 3 144 (SE) 985 cloudy none 00:00 57 49 8 184 (S) 2083 cloudy none 01:00 58 50 12 184 (S) 2481 cloudy none 02:00 57 51 13 205 (SSW) 3220 cloudy humid 03:00 55 53 9 182 (S) 5172 cloudy fog 04:00 54 52 13 140 (SE) 3858 cloudy fog 05:00 52 51 16 137 (SE) 3035 cloudy fog 06:00 51 51 12 161 (SSE) 3182 cloudy fog Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
