Within an hour we had lightning within 11 km of the site and clouds began to form over head. Soon the skies became opaque. We had a few light rain showers during the night. At 03:15 the second half observer gave in for the night. I was doing morning instrument fills at 04:30 when I took a peak out the dome at the skies. The situation looked ok to open and radar returns had dissipated by now. I quickly switched to the echelle, opened and took some exposures for NM07 through variable cloud cover until sunrise. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 04:43 ECHELLE -21( -333) 124 33 14.3 15.2 15.0 14.2 14.5 ND3 1.92 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 73 48 10 266 (W) 1569 cloudy none 17:00 69 47 5 264 (W) 1466 cloudy none 18:00 69 46 11 263 (W) 1189 mstly cldy none 19:00 68 48 11 263 (W) 1595 ptly cldy none 20:00 65 42 5 313 (NW) 2200 mstly clr dust 21:00 64 43 14 24 (NNE) 2380 ptly cldy none 22:00 66 38 7 301 (WNW) 478 cloudy none 23:00 64 40 4 288 (WNW) 722 cloudy none 00:00 62 44 7 341 (NNW) 2089 cloudy lt rain 01:00 59 45 12 311 (NW) 932 cloudy none 02:00 57 47 4 300 (WNW) 1565 mstly cldy none 03:00 55 49 4 311 (NW) 3345 mstly cldy lt rain 04:00 57 48 7 358 (N) 2568 ptly cldy none 05:00 58 49 4 289 (WNW) 2549 mstly clr none 06:00 57 48 6 187 (S) 2367 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
