Skies began clearing around 23:30 overhead. Satellite and radar activity nearby all night. Many problems tonight mostly revolving around using, moving or setting up Agile. Had some trouble getting started on Agile with the TUI version released today (1.6b2). I worked most of it out during first half (with help from Fritz and Russell). I updated the obs-spec wiki pages. Did not discover pinhole was left in Agile until we got on sky. PR 1007: In order to physically access AGILE the telescope must be pointed very high. If the mirror covers are closed and an E-stop engaged the telescope will come to rest at about 86 degrees alt. This triggers an error reported in the status window in TUI:'Hit minimum soft limit." Which is confusing because it seems like a maximum, but the real issue is that it cannot be cleared by an axis init. And TUI will not slew down untill that error is cleared. So it has to be moved down by hand or talk2boxes. PR 1008: The Agile user tonight was comparing images taken at NA2 in the past with tonight's images taken at TR2. Tonight's images seemed to be rotated about 45 degrees counterclockwise (E of N) from the previous images of the same field, same coordinates. Then after a spontaneous rotator servo error we slewed back to the same field and the rotation was off again but in a completely different way. Later another servo error put the field back to the 45 degrees off position. PR 1009: A few different times tonight the observer tried to abort a long sequence of exposures with Agile using the inst gui in TUI (1.6b2). Doing so left the gui in limbo. Nothing would happen, it would just sit saying "object time... started" but not start. A simple nub restart of agileExpose would clear things up, but perhaps the Abort button is doing something strange? ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- UW06 P I/H 01:20 01:40 Pinhole left in Agile UW06 P I/S --:-- --:-- AgileExpose abort lock up UW06 P I/S 08:52 08:55 Agile Rot servo error x2 ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 74 47 14 199 (SSW) 1171 cloudy none 17:00 68 47 8 234 (SW) 1302 cloudy none 18:00 67 47 6 204 (SSW) 1189 cloudy none 19:00 65 47 10 216 (SW) 1233 cloudy none 20:00 65 45 8 184 (S) 1203 cloudy none 21:00 63 46 3 233 (SW) 1244 cloudy none 22:00 64 45 5 242 (WSW) 1233 cloudy none 23:00 62 46 10 273 (W) 1284 mstly clr none 00:00 57 48 14 31 (NNE) 1155 mstly clr none 01:00 60 47 3 344 (NNW) 1007 mstly clr none 02:00 60 47 8 356 (N) 927 mstly clr none 03:00 59 47 8 11 (N) 896 ptly cldy none 04:00 58 47 8 21 (NNE) 763 ptly cldy none 05:00 60 45 1 339 (NNW) 726 mstly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
