Coughlin First half started off with great weather and excellent seeing, (0.6"). A sudden spike in wind at 23:00 drove the seeing to around 2-3". Humidity rose to 80% right thereafter and put us close to closure limits. At 23:40 the observer reported his data was not usable with the extreme seeing, and I decided to close with winds gusting to 38 mph. Conditions continued to worsen thereafter with winds going past 40 mph and humidity steadily rising up to 95% around 02:00. Wind backed off and humidity had dropped around 02:40 so I re-opened. The observer had missed most of his transit event, and took images for about 40 minutes, but determined we had missed the transit. He had no backup targets and thus gave up and we closed for the night at 03:25. I turned off Agile power for move to TR2. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------- 20:25 NICFPS -133( 922) -14 70 14.7 17.5 16.1 16.0 15.3 Ks 0.70 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 67 22 17 275 (W) 1228 clear none 17:00 65 24 6 282 (WNW) 1317 clear none 18:00 64 22 18 280 (W) 1512 clear none 19:00 62 20 7 274 (W) 1460 clear none 20:00 59 20 1 282 (WNW) 1462 clear none 21:00 59 19 2 284 (WNW) 1434 clear none 22:00 60 17 1 206 (SSW) 1346 mstly clr none 23:00 50 35 26 80 (E) 3264 mstly clr none 00:00 47 42 28 70 (ENE) 2059 mstly clr humid 01:00 45 41 27 76 (ENE) 1068 mstly clr humid 02:00 44 42 34 70 (ENE) 1181 mstly clr humid 03:00 44 41 24 70 (ENE) 1909 mstly clr humid 04:00 44 41 20 73 (ENE) 1747 mstly clr humid Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
