First slew of the evening put the target just off the field of view of agile. I corrected pointing with tertiary tilts. The observers target of the night was at a declination of 34 degrees and rising. Tracking behaved very well. The observer reported that the stars on the field drifted just 10 pixels (2.6 arcseconds) over 1.5 hours! The drift was in the azimuth direction. This is excellent confirmation that the new altitude controller is working well since rotator and azimuth speeds are slow in this part of the sky and altitude speeds are high. Nicfps quit reporting temperatures and pressures tonight. I could not get them to restart. A PR was issued. Second half went well. The APOLLO crew has some internet problems however both observers were logged in from hotel rooms. No other problems, everything worked well. Seeing was excellent. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:33 AGILE -52(-1680) 113 42 15.8 16.2 16.1 15.2 15.3 r 1.11 01:13 ECHELLE -108( -493) 164 83 15.6 14.7 15.0 14.2 14.6 ND2 0.84 04:52 APOLLO 25( 1104) 10 41 13.5 13.3 13.5 12.5 13.2 --- 1.00 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 68 27 7 234 (SW) 501 clear none 17:00 68 26 19 268 (W) 435 clear none 18:00 65 24 16 269 (W) 567 clear none 19:00 65 28 18 257 (WSW) 640 ptly cldy none 20:00 61 28 12 241 (WSW) 536 mstly clr none 21:00 60 28 14 219 (SW) 561 ptly cldy none 22:00 60 27 9 260 (W) 672 mstly cldy none 23:00 60 25 13 268 (W) 1039 ptly cldy none 00:00 60 25 7 256 (WSW) 921 ptly cldy none 01:00 60 25 11 258 (WSW) 1012 mstly cldy none 02:00 59 26 16 241 (WSW) 1204 clear none 03:00 56 27 11 236 (SW) 933 clear none 04:00 57 28 10 261 (W) 887 clear none 05:00 56 25 6 263 (W) 843 mstly clr none 06:00 56 29 12 300 (WNW) 1016 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
