Az velocity scale changed from 578 to 576. Tert Xtilt at NA1 changed from 1166 to 900. Tert Ytilt at NA1 changed from 709 to 1000. We had varying cirrus again all night; the second half observer struggled with it more. Seeing was moderate to good. Everything generally worked well, although I did have to make a fairly substantial pointing adjustment at NA1. Guiding imperfections with Tspec seemed more attributable to the clouds or the cloud+moon combination, and probably not to actual telescope problems. The Tspec observer did have one real problem that was somewhat hard to characterize: her ctrl+click commands frequently generated the error message from tcam "Cannot execute command: controller is busy." This has been seen before and usually resolved itself. In this case, it was associated with a variety of behaviors including a successful offset but no new image (leading to the observer mistakenly making a second offset), no offset AND no new image, or a normal successful ctrl+click. In each case, tcam resumed normal behavior without re-initialization, but the problems on nearly 50% of ctrl-click commands did cause confusion and delays. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 20:13 ECHELLE -50( -371) 235 32 13.9 15.0 14.6 13.8 13.9 ND3 1.20 21:16 AGILE 100( 78) 31 69 13.1 13.9 13.8 12.9 13.2 OD4 1.10 23:25 AGILE -50( -121) -34 57 12.7 12.7 13.0 12.2 12.5 I+OD1.3 1.10 01:22 TSPEC 150( 666) -74 43 12.1 12.0 12.3 11.7 12.0 Ks 0.80 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 63 21 16 277 (W) 1218 ptly cldy none 17:00 64 24 15 259 (W) 1095 ptly cldy none 18:00 61 23 23 268 (W) 1079 ptly cldy none 19:00 61 23 12 267 (W) 1031 ptly cldy none 20:00 57 22 12 259 (W) 1211 ptly cldy none 21:00 56 22 14 264 (W) 1174 mstly clr none 22:00 56 22 11 247 (WSW) 1192 mstly clr none 23:00 55 23 15 252 (WSW) 1242 mstly clr none 00:00 55 22 11 266 (W) 1374 ptly cldy none 01:00 54 20 9 270 (W) 1576 ptly cldy none 02:00 54 21 11 319 (NW) 1712 ptly cldy none 03:00 54 20 10 319 (NW) 1816 ptly cldy none 04:00 53 19 9 321 (NW) 2044 ptly cldy none 05:00 53 20 4 327 (NNW) 1818 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
