We had varying cirrus for most of the night, with the clearest skies in the middle of the night. Seeing was good at the beginning of the night, degrading to moderate after a few hours. Second half, the observer had some trouble entering slew coordinates for some objects. He got an error message about "ascii... could not encode" and the slew button never highlighted, nor did the az/alt/airmass calculations show up. He was entering coordinates by hand, not from a catalog, and couldn't see any strange characters in the position or the object name. The problem persisted when he deleted and re-entered the coordinates, but I was able to slew without difficulty. It occurred again on the next target, then cleared up by itself. I tried to help him find the tuilog.txt file on his machine in hopes that this would have more information, but we were not successful in locating the file. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 20:12 AGILE 250( 233) 61 59 11.9 13.8 12.7 13.2 12.4 ND4 1.01 01:14 dis-slit 36( 176) -120 44 10.4 10.5 10.7 9.8 10.2 - 1.50 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 55 28 19 302 (WNW) 873 ptly cldy none 17:00 58 28 13 293 (WNW) 783 ptly cldy none 18:00 55 28 13 292 (WNW) 797 ptly cldy none 19:00 57 28 8 264 (W) 720 ptly cldy none 20:00 53 28 8 207 (SSW) 796 ptly cldy none 21:00 54 28 15 205 (SSW) 830 ptly cldy none 22:00 54 28 20 210 (SSW) 876 ptly cldy none 23:00 53 24 15 217 (SW) 652 mstly clr none 00:00 52 22 9 250 (WSW) 665 mstly clr none 01:00 50 23 14 259 (W) 883 mstly clr none 02:00 49 23 11 262 (W) 910 ptly cldy none 03:00 50 22 11 261 (W) 863 ptly cldy none 04:00 49 20 8 251 (WSW) 819 ptly cldy none 05:00 49 22 12 241 (WSW) 868 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
