There was no threat of precipitation. The Venus program could barely make out the planet through the clouds at very high airmass. The observer said that the data they collected was not usuable at all. The second program of the night was monitoring a bright target at much higher altitude and the clouds thinned some for the rest of the first half. At midnight the clouds thickened again and there just was no hope of looking at extended objects. We held out until 5am and then gave up for the night. No other problems tonight. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:04 TSPEC 50( 343) 87 43 7.4 7.5 7.6 7.2 7.2 Ks 2.00 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 47 17 25 262 (W) 270 cloudy none 17:00 47 18 20 250 (WSW) 211 cloudy none 18:00 46 19 17 253 (WSW) 177 cloudy none 19:00 46 19 21 265 (W) 267 cloudy none 20:00 46 18 18 267 (W) 467 cloudy none 21:00 45 19 16 281 (W) 477 cloudy none 22:00 44 19 12 263 (W) 367 cloudy none 23:00 44 19 17 242 (WSW) 302 cloudy none 00:00 44 19 15 236 (SW) 398 cloudy none 01:00 44 19 17 233 (SW) 255 cloudy none 02:00 44 19 19 216 (SW) 225 cloudy none 03:00 43 19 17 236 (SW) 229 cloudy none 04:00 43 18 14 271 (W) 225 cloudy none 05:00 42 20 16 265 (W) 178 cloudy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
