Likely due to the big temp swing the night before. Will keep a close eye on it the next few days and see if it returns to the previous range of values. Engineering staff has been informed. NA2 Tertiary Tilts TertXtiltCoef was -131, measured change 7; n/c TertYTiltCoef was 928, measured change 98; changed to 1026 Near midnight the clouds got too thick for the first half user to get any science. I switched to a bad weather backup program however it also was too thick to get any useful science on that project. The switch to the echelle resulted in the following pointing changes at NA1. NA1 Tertiary Tilts TertXTiltCoef was 1000.0, measured 123, measured -100; changed to 1025.0 TertYTiltCoef was 1030.0, measured 200, measured -2; changed to 1230.0 We stayed open until 5am but conditions never improved. No other problems tonight. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:51 SPICAM -127( -113) 35 77 1.4 3.4 2.5 2.1 1.7 R 0.88 19:59 NA2gdr 988(30988) 28 77 1.5 3.2 2.4 1.9 1.7 R+nd2 0.74 23:56 ECHELLE -82(-1138) 102 66 1.3 0.9 1.3 0.6 1.1 ND1 0.84 01:19 dis-slit -3( -367) 106 82 1.4 0.8 1.2 0.7 1.1 --- 1.13 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 40 -3 17 307 (NW) 394 mstly clr none 17:00 39 -6 7 307 (NW) 529 mstly clr none 18:00 39 -2 12 321 (NW) 405 mstly clr none 19:00 38 -1 9 265 (W) 362 mstly clr none 20:00 35 -3 11 234 (SW) 369 ptly cldy none 21:00 35 -4 14 217 (SW) 438 ptly cldy none 22:00 33 -3 15 222 (SW) 410 mstly cldy none 23:00 35 -6 13 262 (W) 529 mstly cldy none 00:00 35 -7 16 246 (WSW) 534 cloudy none 01:00 34 -5 16 256 (WSW) 650 cloudy none 02:00 35 -3 13 271 (W) 925 cloudy none 03:00 34 -1 21 290 (WNW) 991 cloudy none 04:00 34 0 14 278 (W) 1378 cloudy none 05:00 32 0 13 325 (NW) 1246 cloudy none 06:00 31 1 13 1 (N) 1000 cloudy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
