Seeing was good to moderate. Triplespec showed the all-zeroes problem at checkout, which I corrected, then it showed up again when I did a random check a few hours later. In the interim, I filled the instrument but didn't move it. The telescope telemetry showed some rather perplexing variations in altitude motor current during normal tracking (mostly in the east, south, and north). This might be related to the increased stiffness we've noticed when moving the telescope by hand. It didn't appear to have any particular effect on tracking accuracy; the only time I did notice significant tracking drift was on a target transiting at 80 degrees, where the telescope often has trouble (and the drift wasn't in the altitude direction, anyway). Otherwise no trouble with the telescope or instruments. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:53 dis-slit 8( -43) 179 70 5.8 7.0 6.2 6.1 5.3 - 1.10 00:48 dis-slit 90( -85) 172 79 5.3 4.7 4.8 4.1 4.4 - 1.50 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 49 2 3 208 (SSW) 1232 ptly cldy none 17:00 44 -1 5 209 (SSW) 1311 ptly cldy none 18:00 42 -2 7 191 (S) 1551 ptly cldy none 19:00 42 -2 7 185 (S) 1636 ptly cldy none 20:00 41 -2 10 185 (S) 2041 ptly cldy none 21:00 41 -2 9 176 (S) 1818 ptly cldy none 22:00 42 -2 8 182 (S) 1688 ptly cldy none 23:00 42 -1 7 208 (SSW) 1684 ptly cldy none 00:00 42 0 10 210 (SSW) 1654 ptly cldy none 01:00 41 0 7 209 (SSW) 2599 ptly cldy none 02:00 42 1 6 208 (SSW) 2638 ptly cldy none 03:00 44 3 1 223 (SW) 2635 ptly cldy none 04:00 45 11 6 292 (WNW) 2295 mstly clr none 05:00 44 10 7 256 (WSW) 2439 mstly clr none 06:00 44 14 9 270 (W) 2580 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
