Pointing was restored to last nights Ytilt numbers but we still could not find Venus. An additional 20 minutes were lost tracking down a solution. In the end it was actually a problem with the observers planetary ephemeris. At 2039 there was a communications error with the hub that resulted in all axes halting. Fritz reported that there was a large amount of internet traffic at the time from the 3.5m control room which caused an NTP error with the hub. This happened to be the first user transfering data back to campus. The second and third programs of the night fought with clouds and elevated winds all night but we never closed. Seeing was moderate. We also saw a loss of communications to the Metrology Tower and we had no weather data for several hours. No other problems tonight. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- NM03 N T/S 18:00 18:10 GMECH communications refused error PU05 D T/S 20:39 20:45 NTP error to hub35m ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:59 NICFPS -148( 308) 62 70 2.2 5.2 4.0 4.0 2.9 Ks+ND2 0.81 20:12 dis-slit 33( -264) -98 66 2.2 2.1 2.3 1.4 1.9 --- 1.26 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 42 11 17 210 (SSW) 1213 mstly clr none 17:00 40 11 22 216 (SW) 1159 clear none 18:00 36 7 19 191 (S) 1305 clear none 19:00 22 204 (SSW) 1604 clear none 20:00 23 205 (SSW) 1527 ptly cldy none 21:00 22 214 (SW) 1389 mstly cldy none 22:00 36 14 28 203 (SSW) 1490 mstly cldy none 23:00 35 17 30 215 (SW) 1662 mstly cldy none 00:00 33 22 28 232 (SW) 1330 mstly cldy none 01:00 33 22 27 234 (SW) 1325 mstly cldy none 02:00 34 23 29 258 (WSW) 980 mstly cldy none 03:00 33 24 23 231 (SW) 1085 ptly cldy none 04:00 27 224 (SW) 1045 mstly cldy none 05:00 20 213 (SSW) 987 mstly clr none 06:00 22 224 (SW) 1044 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
