Pointing at the echelle was very good at the start of tonight, no changes needed. The second observer had only faint targets and clouds were pretty thick. I was able to switch to an alternate bright target and stay open since there was no threat of precip. I used both the echelle and Triplespec. I saw no problems with pointing again when I switched back to NA1 however, when I went to NA2 the second time there was a large tilt change. This was seen still with DIS mounted, before I did an instrument change to Tspec. When TSpec was mounted I did not see any of the errors that have been reported recently with zero level science frames after rolling the instument across the floor. It rolled smoothly across the seam in the floor and mounted perfectly. We closed second half. We were able to open just before Apollo scheduled time. Russet reported that Apollo didnt get very good returns due to the cloud cover. No problems tonight. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:31 ECHELLE -114(-1095) 23 46 0.4 2.0 1.5 1.4 0.9 ND2 2.00 19:55 dis-slit 60( -327) 210 77 1.3 0.3 0.7 -0.3 0.4 --- 1.37 20:48 ECHELLE -75(-1172) 231 70 0.9 0.1 0.6 -0.3 0.3 ND3 1.69 05:32 APOLLO 0( 596) -36 39 1.8 1.4 1.7 1.2 1.6 --- 1.80 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 35 6 7 186 (S) 759 mstly cldy none 17:00 33 6 11 131 (SE) 835 mstly cldy none 18:00 32 5 4 117 (ESE) 1017 mstly cldy none 19:00 32 4 15 157 (SSE) 817 mstly cldy none 20:00 32 0 9 177 (S) 1516 cloudy none 21:00 34 -1 7 165 (SSE) 1138 cloudy none 22:00 33 0 10 151 (SSE) 1407 cloudy none 23:00 34 0 11 172 (S) 1259 cloudy none 00:00 35 1 17 170 (S) 1183 cloudy none 01:00 35 0 15 176 (S) 1079 cloudy none 02:00 37 0 18 183 (S) 999 cloudy none 03:00 36 2 17 181 (S) 1089 cloudy none 04:00 34 7 19 162 (SSE) 972 cloudy none 05:00 37 2 23 181 (S) 1097 mstly cldy none 06:00 35 4 17 169 (S) 1097 mstly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
