Coughlin We started the night with some clouds moving in, but were able to adjust the tertiary pointing for echelle. Clouds thickened after switchover to the 2nd program of the night, and winds passed closure limits, along with high dust levels, forcing us to close at 7:45pm. We were able to re-open at 9:30pm, and conditions improved as the night progressed. Seeing was horrible first half, (~3"), but steadily improved through second half to around 1.2" by 4am. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------- 18:42 ECHELLE -125(-1164) 51 30 -1.3 0.3 -0.2 -0.6 -1.0 3.10 00:33 dis-slit -100( -783) 1 65 -5.6 -5.8 -5.5 -6.2 -5.8 2.50 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 38 5 9 46 (NE) 476 mstly clr none 17:00 35 7 11 86 (E) 622 mstly cldy none 18:00 31 8 18 69 (ENE) 1113 ptly cldy none 19:00 29 9 16 67 (ENE) 1388 ptly cldy none 20:00 26 9 37 74 (ENE) 3227 ptly cldy dust 21:00 24 10 27 70 (ENE) 2840 clear none 22:00 22 10 25 66 (ENE) 2235 clear none 23:00 22 7 26 69 (ENE) 1395 clear none 00:00 22 4 20 69 (ENE) 990 clear none 01:00 22 3 20 73 (ENE) 766 clear none 02:00 23 4 11 84 (E) 789 clear none 03:00 27 6 3 319 (NW) 799 clear none 04:00 27 6 5 302 (WNW) 931 clear none 05:00 25 6 6 280 (W) 1055 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
