Some observing time was lost waiting for clouds to pass, and the dome was closed for a while near morning twilight due to a combination of humidity and clouds, but we re-opened to get some morning sky flats. The GFP mostly worked well except for a few hiccups after taking dark images, which were necessary because the dark current was slightly elevated. The telescope tracked very nicely for most of the night according to both telemetry and image quality. At 09:07 UT, there was a problem with communications to the rotator resulting in "read timed out on port LTA5" errors. I spent a while being puzzled by the fact that talk2boxes could connect to na2-rotator but not to tcc_rot1. Pressing a stop button did not help the controller recover. Finally I did a reset through talk2boxes, and after that it was okay. ------------- FAILURE LOG -------------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (STEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DD02 F T/H 03:07 03:26 rot com failure, reset needed ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:28 NA2gdr 7890(37890) 34 32 10.1 12.7 11.0 11.1 11.2 R 1.05 00:06 NA2gdr 7998(37998) 39 55 9.9 9.8 10.0 9.1 9.6 6750 0.75 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 61 42 7 256 (WSW) 713 clear none 17:00 58 41 3 217 (SW) 743 clear none 18:00 54 40 6 249 (WSW) 720 clear none 19:00 51 41 5 196 (SSW) 868 clear none 20:00 48 40 2 159 (SSE) 966 clear none 21:00 50 41 7 191 (S) 1043 clear none 22:00 51 41 7 189 (S) 1171 ptly cldy none 23:00 51 41 8 193 (SSW) 1064 ptly cldy none 00:00 50 41 11 187 (S) 1602 ptly cldy none 01:00 48 39 16 212 (SSW) 1138 mstly clr none 02:00 49 41 13 201 (SSW) 973 clear none 03:00 48 41 12 209 (SSW) 1049 clear none 04:00 48 43 15 204 (SSW) 1074 ptly cldy none 05:00 48 43 15 217 (SW) 1159 ptly cldy none 06:00 47 42 11 225 (SW) 1222 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
