I also discovered the new 'mushrooms' on the NA2 side of the telescope that seem to be quite large. DIS did mount but required a bit more manipulation than previously. Seeing was moderate to bad all first half. Comparing the DIS slitviewer focus to the spectrograph focus did not reveal anything overt. Red side seemed fairly close; blue side may have a focus +50 mic offset; However, since the seeing was not stable, focus was not much of a peak, more of a broad swath, this focus offset may be variation in seeing. Pointing was fine on DIS; Off the field when we moved to Echelle. I did a few rounds of echtilt to bring it back. The tertiary tilts were changed significantly. A cold front moved in around midnight increasing humidity past the limits and forcing us to close. We had high humidity and/or fog and clouds the remainder of second half. Little snow beginning to fall at 04:30. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:08 dis-slit 111( -17) 16 71 2.7 5.6 5.2 4.4 3.4 1.89 18:30 dis-slit 112( -52) 3 71 2.8 4.8 4.6 3.5 3.1 1.63 20:48 dis-slit 4( -291) 31 65 1.6 2.1 2.6 1.1 1.3 1.55 23:07 ECHELLE -101(-1161) 2 44 -1.2 0.3 0.5 -0.7 -0.4 ND2 2.50 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 43 16 11 264 (W) 178 clear none 17:00 40 16 15 237 (WSW) 461 clear none 18:00 37 15 15 236 (SW) 480 clear none 19:00 37 14 11 265 (W) 537 clear none 20:00 36 16 12 266 (W) 355 clear none 21:00 35 17 10 265 (W) 393 clear none 22:00 35 16 6 275 (W) 539 clear none 23:00 34 17 1 158 (SSE) 313 clear none 00:00 27 20 12 82 (E) 1618 clear none 01:00 23 22 22 75 (ENE) 2711 clear humid 02:00 22 21 10 83 (E) 670 clear humid 03:00 20 19 14 83 (E) 485 cloudy humid 04:00 20 20 12 92 (E) 375 cloudy humid Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
