We had persistent variable cirrus and poor seeing all night long. The first half observer reported pointing somewhat off with DIS, and asked me to correct it; the change in mirror tilts was xtilt +200, ytilt -500, which is quite substantial. Pointing remained consistent after that correction until the switch to APOLLO, which was off by about 5 arcminutes, causing some delay in getting started. Once pointing was established, APOLLO had a successful run, but not very dramatic given the conditions. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:10 dis-slit 23( -130) 110 45 2.7 4.6 3.7 3.3 3.0 - 1.50 00:36 SPICAM -130( -130) 64 83 3.8 3.1 3.6 2.7 3.4 Strom y 1.70 06:23 APOLLO -130( 505) -18 44 2.3 2.3 2.4 1.7 2.1 530 1.80 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 38 11 12 332 (NNW) 377 ptly cldy none 17:00 38 9 3 1 (N) 279 ptly cldy none 18:00 37 1 10 326 (NW) 86 ptly cldy none 19:00 36 3 7 29 (NNE) 120 ptly cldy none 20:00 37 4 13 10 (N) 108 ptly cldy none 21:00 37 2 16 353 (N) 104 ptly cldy none 22:00 37 0 21 18 (NNE) 96 ptly cldy none 23:00 39 -5 17 24 (NNE) 61 ptly cldy none 00:00 39 -5 24 16 (NNE) 66 ptly cldy none 01:00 39 -7 16 28 (NNE) 77 ptly cldy none 02:00 38 -7 21 17 (NNE) 95 ptly cldy none 03:00 41 -6 16 32 (NNE) 59 ptly cldy none 04:00 38 -6 19 76 (ENE) 99 ptly cldy none 05:00 38 -6 22 73 (ENE) 134 ptly cldy none 06:00 36 -4 25 77 (ENE) 146 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
