It rotated back to zero, via tcc command, then worked fine. 2:46:11UT error from motor controller on echelle. Images went bad??? see image 144. Image look like the contrast strech changed/cal lamp was turned on. Lamps were off when image was taken. rebooted slitty Images still looked strange. 02:55:21 calibration mirror move error moved to another star, still strange looking images, tested with cal lamps and truss lamps. Camera seems to be working. Contrast very odd. Offset where I thought star should be and it appeared on the camera. Dark images still appear like the contrast of the image is off. Not sure what is going on. I did see a star in the guider before I changed instruments, so I think the camera is working. Perhaps the filter wheel should be homed tommorow, I don't know the command. It appears to be moving filters but not sure if they are the correct ones. No PR submitted as I am not sure if something is broken or not, but something appeared to have changed with the slitviewer. Russet took a dark later in the evening (moring) and the image looked normal again. See images 186 & 187. Russet noticed that the problem images all seemed to be binned 2x2 instead of 1x1. It's possible the binning was changed inadvertantly and not caught until Russet logged in with a new TUI with the defaults set and took an image. Further investigation showed that the observer inadvertanly changed the binning, inadvertantly, at 02:45:08UT. Pointing was off for APOLLO tonight (~3 arc mins) no other problems and tracking was fine all night with NICFPS. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (STEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:42 TSPEC -186( -80) 73 61 0.3 4.0 2.3 2.3 0.8 Ks 1.23 19:11 ECHELLE -310(-1324) -45 49 0.0 1.4 0.6 -0.1 -0.1 ND2 1.40 20:21 NICFPS -195( 65) 57 36 0.3 0.5 0.3 -0.6 -0.2 Ks 0.96 20:23 NA2gdr -3845(39154) 57 36 0.5 0.4 0.3 -0.6 -0.1 R 1.27 06:02 APOLLO -75( 390) 281 38 -1.4 -1.4 -0.7 -1.8 -0.5 -- 1.40 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 35 11 3 261 (W) 289 clear none 17:00 33 12 1 352 (N) 375 clear none 18:00 32 12 12 29 (NNE) 461 clear none 19:00 31 13 13 29 (NNE) 492 clear none 20:00 33 12 12 49 (NE) 470 clear none 21:00 32 11 7 14 (NNE) 237 clear none 22:00 32 11 9 10 (N) 373 clear none 23:00 31 9 8 348 (NNW) 173 clear none 00:00 31 10 8 351 (N) 129 clear none 01:00 30 10 1 342 (NNW) 169 clear none 02:00 32 9 5 275 (W) 136 clear none 03:00 31 10 1 198 (SSW) 207 clear none 04:00 32 9 7 323 (NW) 102 clear none 05:00 32 11 1 323 (NW) 122 clear none 06:00 30 9 1 148 (SSE) 132 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
