Essentially, homing the tertiary didn't work until the third try. The subsequent output from the TUI log and talk to boxes was sent in an email to the people concerned. This ate up the first half hour of APOLLO time. Once we did get on sky, clouds obscured the moon on and off. The patchy cloud cover began breaking up as we moved out of twilight. Thin cirrus persisted the rest of first half but did not become a significant problem until around midnight. The guider hang-ups continue, although seem to be more concentrated in the first half of the night(?). After 3am the humidity began to rise. A little after 5am the dew point sensor of the went bizerk, reporting momentary humidity levels at 200, 300 and 400%. The extreme values were temporary fluctuations, then the values would again return to what seemed to be normal levels. Perhaps something is about to go out? ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DD01 A T/H 19:15 19:55 Tertiary would not move ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:40 TSPEC 69( 823) 166 55 15.3 17.2 15.9 16.1 15.4 1.34 00:23 TSPEC -28( 577) 202 51 14.2 14.0 14.3 13.2 13.8 1.36 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 62 47 3 260 (W) 823 ptly cldy none 17:00 62 47 1 280 (W) 807 ptly cldy none 18:00 65 48 9 244 (WSW) 723 ptly cldy none 19:00 62 48 3 254 (WSW) 805 ptly cldy none 20:00 59 46 1 248 (WSW) 838 ptly cldy none 21:00 59 45 1 223 (SW) 820 ptly cldy none 22:00 58 42 11 145 (SE) 916 ptly cldy none 23:00 58 36 13 151 (SSE) 790 ptly cldy none 00:00 58 37 9 173 (S) 858 ptly cldy none 01:00 57 38 13 145 (SE) 865 mstly clr none 02:00 55 44 12 169 (S) 1114 mstly clr none 03:00 54 46 14 145 (SE) 1371 mstly clr humid 04:00 53 48 6 181 (S) 1339 mstly clr humid 05:00 53 48 7 184 (S) 1423 mstly clr humid Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
