During first half we had two rotator controller errors. A servo error that was quickly recovered from however a 5 minute exposure was lost. The second was about an hour and a half later. Apparently wile tracking the rotator controller unexpectantly rebooted itself. When I was able to reinitialize the zero position was lost and I had to rezero the rotator. This is best done by taking off the instrument however since it was near the end of first half I eyeballed the rotation the best I could. Pointing and tracking for the rest of first half were sufficiently close enough and since the user wasn't tracking with horizon coordinates it was fine. The rotator will need to be properly zero'ed today. A 300s exposure was lost as well as time up in the dome totalled about 25 minutes lost. Apollo got record returns tonight on 3 reflectors. Second half went smoothly. No other problems tonight. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PU06 T T/S 21:19 21:25 RotCtrl Servo Error PU06 T T/S 22:43 23:07 RotCtrl Rebooted (LTA5 timeout) ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:25 TSPEC 25( 619) -69 66 9.2 14.0 11.8 12.9 10.5 Ks 0.81 19:53 TSPEC -100( 424) -76 60 8.8 12.6 10.8 11.2 9.5 Ks 0.67 20:06 TSPEC -150( 348) -79 58 8.9 12.1 10.5 9.8 9.3 Ks 0.74 21:37 TSPEC -25( 331) 47 47 8.3 8.9 8.8 8.2 8.3 Ks 0.62 01:08 APOLLO 0( 864) 81 60 7.6 7.3 7.7 6.5 7.5 - 1.40 02:10 ECHELLE -130(-858) -25 54 7.6 7.4 7.8 6.5 7.4 nd2 0.83 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 60 40 9 256 (WSW) 527 ptly cldy none 17:00 56 38 13 243 (WSW) 533 ptly cldy none 18:00 54 38 11 186 (S) 509 mstly clr none 19:00 50 35 9 184 (S) 583 clear none 20:00 48 34 9 136 (SE) 746 clear none 21:00 46 35 11 128 (SE) 334 clear none 22:00 46 35 6 119 (ESE) 866 clear none 23:00 47 34 9 126 (SE) 751 clear none 00:00 46 35 10 127 (SE) 713 clear none 01:00 46 34 5 132 (SE) 743 clear none 02:00 47 34 1 193 (SSW) 635 clear none 03:00 47 33 5 6 (N) 688 clear none 04:00 49 34 1 108 (ESE) 707 clear none 05:00 48 36 3 350 (N) 620 clear none 06:00 46 39 6 10 (N) 687 clear none TELESCOPE STATUS Telescope drives operational.
