Coughlin Az Velocity Scale was 576.0, measured 574.1, 577.6; 575.8. Kept at 576.0. Mostly clear night with only a slight haze and minor variable seeing. At 05:35 UT, while guiding the dis slitviewer froze, (last image #461), and the problem was noticed at 05:55 UT, up until which data was still being taken. I attempted to re-start the hub connections and re-init the camera, but to no success. It allowed me to start an exposure, and cancel it in progress, but the image never finished. Eventually a re-start of 'offset', the dcam control computer, fixed the communication problem, but caused another problem with the temp set point. Eventually the set point was re-established, but the camera warmed up to ~ -1C. (See PR dis/830). Observing resumed at 06:46 UT. Exact same dis slitviewer problem occurred again at 10:02 UT, was noticed at 10:09 UT. Solution was another full re-boot of 'offset' the dcam control computer followed by a restart of the dcamera and dcam nubs and a dcam init. Observing resumed at 10:26 UT. Camera had warmed up again, but cooled back down normally as soon as nubs connection was restored. Intriguing error message while trying to reconnect before the hard reboot was: 10:11:57 .dcamera.0 0 dcamera f text="discam locked out by process 1822" ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CU08 Dcam I/S 23:35 00:46 Dcam froze NM05 Dcam I/S 04:09 04:26 Dcam froze ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------- 20:34 dis-slit -30( 546) 253 56 17.1 19.7 18.9 18.4 17.6 1.15 22:43 dis-slit -149( 294) 259 59 16.3 17.1 16.9 15.7 15.9 1.20 01:06 dis-slit -113( 269) 265 63 16.4 15.9 16.2 15.2 15.8 1.20 02:27 dis-slit -66( 304) 184 82 16.5 15.8 16.2 15.2 16.0 1.00 02:54 dis-slit -86( 283) 199 85 16.6 15.7 16.2 14.9 15.9 1.20 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 70 54 6 191 (S) 1052 ptly cldy none 17:00 68 54 6 221 (SW) 1050 ptly cldy none 18:00 68 52 0 216 (SW) 1035 ptly cldy none 19:00 66 43 5 107 (ESE) 941 ptly cldy none 20:00 64 43 7 87 (E) 1021 mstly clr none 21:00 63 46 6 93 (E) 1197 clear none 22:00 62 47 7 111 (ESE) 1266 clear none 23:00 61 46 8 128 (SE) 1243 clear none 00:00 62 45 5 159 (SSE) 1337 clear none 01:00 62 43 2 118 (ESE) 1369 clear none 02:00 62 42 2 94 (E) 1360 clear none 03:00 62 43 5 95 (E) 1373 clear none 04:00 61 43 5 91 (E) 1402 clear none 05:00 60 44 3 100 (E) 1486 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
