Cirrus covered skies until around 22:00. Moderate to good seeing all night. The dis slitviewer was having some difficulty maintaining temperature at the desired set point and was continuing to show streaked columns along the readout direction adjacent to very bright stars (> 12th Magnitude). The slitviewer required a few restarts and at 23:00 I could not get it to maintain temperature and it rapidly warmed. After 10 minutes the user decided to switch to Spicam. Sometime between 23:10 and midnight the camera did return to -20C but even when not in use it was running slightly warm by morning. The echelle continues to run a few degrees warmer than its temperature set point. No problems the remainder of the night. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- UC03 D I/H 23:00 23:10 Slitviewer warmed ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------- 20:43 dis-slit -321(280) 3 79 17.6 20.5 19.7 18.7 17.8 -- 1.11 21:25 NA2gdr -4296(17703) -74 32 17.7 19.2 18.9 16.9 17.9 clear 1.29 21:48 NA2gdr 1209(23209) -78 27 17.7 18.8 18.6 17.1 17.5 clear 1.09 23:31 SPICAM -51( 672) -129 42 17.3 17.3 17.5 15.9 16.6 r 1.14 23:34 NA2gdr 441(30441) -129 40 17.4 17.2 17.5 15.8 16.4 R+nd2 1.25 23:41 SPICAM -69( 649) -130 41 16.3 17.1 17.4 15.7 16.3 g 1.20 01:18 SPICAM -95( 484) -95 77 14.6 14.9 15.3 13.9 14.2 r 1.13 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 71 24 9 297 (WNW) 1909 clear none 17:00 76 24 14 264 (W) 1931 clear none 18:00 71 18 9 259 (W) 1614 clear none 19:00 68 17 5 289 (WNW) 1708 clear none 20:00 65 12 1 334 (NNW) 1708 clear none 21:00 63 12 5 265 (W) 1963 clear none 22:00 64 7 8 218 (SW) 1907 clear none 23:00 64 9 7 225 (SW) 2049 clear none 00:00 58 22 7 107 (ESE) 2106 clear none 01:00 58 35 15 131 (SE) 2182 clear none 02:00 58 35 13 143 (SE) 2321 clear none 03:00 58 35 11 149 (SSE) 2217 clear none 04:00 57 34 12 155 (SSE) 2284 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
