NICFPS and Echelle both got good seeing; APOLLO suffered some worse seeing due to a windshift a few minutes after midnight (and also to high airmass for the summertime moon). The telescope and instruments were generally well-behaved. There was one crash of the echelle slitviewer which required a power cycle, but the telescope continued tracking nicely and we recovered before the exposure was over, so no time was lost. At the end of the night I stopped the echelle fill sequence and closed the nitrogen valves to the instrument in preparation for pumping. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:45 NICFPS -141( 1186) 205 66 21.6 23.0 22.6 21.2 21.4 J 0.59 00:06 APOLLO -50( 1520) 356 31 19.6 20.9 21.2 19.9 20.2 510 1.80 01:39 ECHELLE -163( -251) 186 42 20.7 20.1 20.5 19.6 20.4 ND2 0.80 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 78 24 1 253 (WSW) 903 ptly cldy none 17:00 76 22 12 270 (W) 890 ptly cldy none 18:00 77 21 11 254 (WSW) 770 ptly cldy none 19:00 77 22 12 255 (WSW) 818 mstly clr none 20:00 72 18 8 266 (W) 670 mstly clr none 21:00 71 17 1 232 (SW) 769 mstly clr none 22:00 71 17 3 194 (SSW) 761 mstly clr none 23:00 71 18 3 219 (SW) 699 clear none 00:00 70 17 5 258 (WSW) 820 clear none 01:00 67 15 2 347 (NNW) 776 clear none 02:00 70 18 8 358 (N) 962 clear none 03:00 69 17 13 41 (NE) 916 clear none 04:00 67 21 17 32 (NNE) 902 clear none 05:00 67 21 17 42 (NE) 976 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
