Dembicky AZ velocity scale measured 583.0, File 580.0, Changed to -- (19:48) Tested the NA2 rotator and tertiary for rotation problems. Clouds kept us closed until 22:00. Pointing was off a little on NA2, so I corrected that. Service Observing /export/images/Q2APO/UT080521/ Std star (w/autofocus): LHS2397a 5 exposures, 6 sec exp, 5pt dither, box size 5 arc sec HST P550-C 5 exposures, 6 sec exp, 5pt dither, box size 5 arc sec MS1008.0096 25 exposures, 6 sec exp, 5pt dither, box size 5 arc sec, bkg 27k cts, airmass 3.99, only took 85 of 125 total exposures before got too low. HST P550-C 5 exposures, 6 sec exp, 5pt dither, box size 5 arc sec LHS2397a 5 exposures, 6 sec exp, 5pt dither, box size 5 arc sec 09:41 UT rotator servo error too large on user slew (failed during slew) I logged into the talk2boxes, issued and init, and did a small move, then logged out and did an axis init (that actually may had fixed the problem?). The rotator then responded to tcc rot comamands and I had the observer reslew We found tonight that the Aux tank was empty, what we thought was filling the past couple weeks actaully wasn't. Apparently the modified funnel wasn't sticking in the tank far enough. I filled it yesterday (over 1L, but it was pouring out, I just let it fill) and apparently not much got in. I will fill it this morning with either the port up, or with the GFP stinger (per M. Skrutskie). 11:49:04 Rotator looked fine 11:49:15 Rotator servo error too large I didn't fix the error this time since they were doing flats and didn't care about the rotator not moving. Filled the TSpec Aux tank, 2.0L. Filled with port up and bent funnel tube straight. Need to fill in this position from now on. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SAEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- EN02 T T/H 03:41 03:56 Rotator servo error 05:49 --:-- Rotator Servo Error ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 22:48 NICFPS -104(1011) -42 32 17.4 17.8 17.8 17.0 17.3 Ks 0.97 00:55 TSpec 31(746) -3 65 16.6 16.8 17.1 15.9 16.5 Ks 1.0 03:57 TSpec -39(649) 349 29 14.8 15.0 15.3 13.8 14.5 Ks 1.14 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 68 25 13 82 (E) 1563 cldy none 17:00 69 22 10 187 (S) 1445 cldy none 18:00 69 22 8 122 (ESE) 1359 cldy none 19:00 65 26 9 92 (E) 1372 cldy none 20:00 64 25 6 166 (SSE) 1238 cldy none 21:00 65 22 9 181 (S) 1420 cldy none 22:00 62 26 10 265 (W) 1752 cirrus none 23:00 63 26 6 248 (WSW) 1587 lt. cirrus none 00:00 63 25 7 308 (NW) 1427 lt. cirrus none 01:00 61 25 8 284 (WNW) 1269 lt. cirrus none 02:00 61 27 4 272 (W) 1244 lt. cirrus none 03:00 61 27 4 267 (W) 1245 lt. cirrus none 04:00 58 27 2 312 (NW) 1290 lt. cirrus none 05:00 58 28 6 308 (NW) 1377 lt. cirrus none 06:00 57 28 12 299 (WNW) 1435 lt. cirrus none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
