Dust was near the limit at sunset but I opened soon afterward and got focused as soon as the sky was dark enough. APOLLO had no luck getting signal, and saw several large image jumps of multiple arcseconds in the azimuth direction that did not seem to coincide with strong wind gusts (as determined by intercom to the dome). On the following program, one image showed signs of a large jump, in a different part of the sky. Aside from these mysteries, the telescope and instruments behaved well. The tertiary was fine through multiple port rotations. I finished up in the morning with an azimuth remap, in preparation for Monday night's engineering. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:15 NICFPS 75( 741) -67 79 8.9 9.5 9.8 9.0 8.8 J 0.85 01:24 NICFPS -82( 503) 72 31 6.6 6.8 7.2 6.2 6.6 J 1.10 04:21 ECHELLE -73( -912) 94 72 5.7 5.4 5.9 4.8 5.4 ND2 1.30 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 53 9 17 261 (W) 3978 clear none 17:00 56 11 18 268 (W) 3208 clear none 18:00 55 10 17 253 (WSW) 3078 clear none 19:00 52 6 24 268 (W) 3571 clear none 20:00 48 3 18 269 (W) 3478 clear none 21:00 48 4 16 271 (W) 3151 clear none 22:00 47 2 18 275 (W) 2849 clear none 23:00 46 2 15 275 (W) 2845 clear none 00:00 46 2 15 311 (NW) 2856 clear none 01:00 46 2 14 264 (W) 2792 clear none 02:00 45 2 17 266 (W) 2919 clear none 03:00 44 0 18 261 (W) 2938 clear none 04:00 43 1 17 263 (W) 2957 clear none 05:00 43 3 13 267 (W) 2930 clear none 06:00 42 4 19 264 (W) 3024 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
