The main weather system left the area around 10PM however orographic clouds formed as it was leaving the area. It took several hours for the watervapor map to show sufficiently dry warm air to cause the skies to clear. Seeing was moderate. The echelle worked fine during my afternoon checkout however later in the night when I tried a test exposure it failed during readout. Several attempts to revive the ability to take exposures were unsucessful. See PR/782 for additional details. No other problems. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 02:53 dis-slit -110(-159) 46 73 4.5 7.2 7.8 6.2 5.2 -- 1.44 02:59 NA2gdr 2231(24231) 43 74 4.4 7.0 7.5 5.8 4.9 R+nd2 1.20 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 49 6 28 259 (W) 2031 cloudy none 17:00 48 8 23 256 (WSW) 1953 cloudy none 18:00 49 10 30 240 (WSW) 2723 cloudy dust 19:00 49 18 35 243 (WSW) 4476 cloudy dust 20:00 48 17 22 259 (W) 1155 cloudy none 21:00 48 14 21 257 (WSW) 1054 cloudy none 22:00 47 14 22 242 (WSW) 1220 cloudy none 23:00 47 12 25 236 (SW) 1249 cloudy none 00:00 45 10 15 266 (W) 2248 cloudy none 01:00 44 9 19 268 (W) 2776 cloudy none 02:00 42 7 23 255 (WSW) 2510 mstly cldy none 03:00 40 7 16 266 (W) 2756 clear none 04:00 39 9 14 302 (WNW) 2629 clear none 05:00 39 9 14 269 (W) 2620 clear none 06:00 38 8 15 283 (WNW) 2573 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
