We had several instances of the slitviewer crashing. On two occasions the star had wandered off the slit during the exposure and neither the observer or I noticed that the slitviewer had quit updating. Several short science exposures were bad until we tracked down the problem. Second half there appeared to be a complete freeze of nicfps during a 25 exposure sequence. It had finished exposure 11 and several minutes went by before anything happened. I issued an init of the instrument and had the observer restart their sequence. Later I learned that the 2.5m Observers had also seen a freeze on the network and it was likely coincidence that the instrument started working again after my init if the network came back up. No other problems. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- UW09 D I/S 21:04 21:24 dcam quit guiding, exposure lost 21:44 21:54 dcam quit guiding, exposure lost UW10 N I/S 05:21 05:27 nicfps/network freeze ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:00 dis-slit -55( 122) 49 72 8.8 11.7 11.2 10.6 9.4 -- 1.13 19:05 NA2gdr 2917(24917) 47 72 8.8 11.6 11.1 10.4 9.3 R+nd2 0.70 00:31 NICFPS -36( 615) -73 60 9.5 9.1 9.5 8.4 9.2 Ks 0.65 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 55 14 7 259 (W) 1343 clear none 17:00 56 14 13 261 (W) 1331 clear none 18:00 55 11 6 257 (WSW) 1314 clear none 19:00 51 8 12 216 (SW) 971 clear none 20:00 48 12 10 187 (S) 1197 clear none 21:00 48 10 12 189 (S) 1299 clear none 22:00 49 10 13 187 (S) 1950 clear none 23:00 49 11 13 206 (SSW) 2148 clear none 00:00 50 10 15 200 (SSW) 2114 clear none 01:00 49 10 13 185 (S) 2078 clear none 02:00 49 13 10 175 (S) 2427 clear none 03:00 49 13 12 208 (SSW) 2325 ptly cldy none 04:00 48 17 12 202 (SSW) 2535 mstly cldy none 05:00 47 21 16 202 (SSW) 2959 clear none 06:00 48 21 17 210 (SSW) 3239 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
