Dembicky Dust earlier in the afternoon but levels subsided by an hour or so before sunset. Winds were still high, but they also were dropping by sunset. I stayed closed until twilight (DIS flats and just in case the dust kicked back up). We had a rotator controller error when I finally opened (I delayed the test slews) which Fritz had to log in and do that magic he does. Problem was solved before twiligh ended, so no science time was lost. Found a possible bug in the beta TUI version I was running with the NA2 guider. PR submitted. The problem went away when I switched to an older version of TUI (not sure if that was the fix or not). NA2 guider froze once. Quick restart of nubs and the camera was back online. We also hit the 85 deg limit (I warned the observer beforehand but we ran into it just as I saw the altitude hit 85 deg). No time really lost as I just restarted the drives and slewed the telescope away. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SAEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:21 DISslit -57(-419) 113 45 -0.4 0.5 0.7 -0.4 -0.4 -- 2.4 22:44 DISslit 49(-412) 113 74 -0.9 -1.2 -0.6 -1.6 -1.1 -- 1.9 22:46 NA2gdr 22000(-514) 113 74 -0.8 -1.2 -0.6 -1.5 -1.1 clear 1.9 00:01 DISslit 95(-374) 111 54 -1.4 -1.6 -0.9 -2.0 -1.8 -- 2.4 00:08 NA2gdr 22000(1548) 111 55 -1.6 -1.7 -0.9 -2.1 -1.8 -- 2.0 02:32 DISslit 84(-429) 171 66 -2.2 -2.3 -1.5 -2.7 -2.3 -- 1.5 02:34 NA2gdr 22000(53) 171 66 -2.2 -2.3 -1.5 -2.6 -2.3 clear 1.5 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 35 0 21 290 (WNW) 2676 clear dust 17:00 36 1 24 302 (WNW) 1761 clear wind 18:00 34 0 28 304 (NW) 1709 clear wind 19:00 34 2 19 338 (NNW) 1803 clear none 20:00 32 2 23 334 (NNW) 1467 clear none 21:00 31 2 20 318 (NW) 1493 clear none 22:00 31 0 14 6 (N) 1407 clear none 23:00 31 -7 10 326 (NW) 2394 clear none 00:00 29 -1 17 321 (NW) 1427 clear none 01:00 29 -2 27 322 (NW) 1580 clear none 02:00 29 -3 14 322 (NW) 1539 clear none 03:00 28 -3 13 325 (NW) 1678 clear none 04:00 28 -1 23 314 (NW) 1714 clear none 05:00 26 1 12 319 (NW) 1616 clear none 06:00 26 3 12 317 (NW) 1465 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
