The TripleSpec guider now guides! We successfully got on sky and tried all three modes of guiding. Several objects and several tests were accomplished before weather conditions became an issue. Dust levels had been high all night. At 23:00 dust and wind both began rising over the limit, then clouds rolled in. By 23:30 we needed to close. After that the weather conditions only worsened. By 3am we had high dust, high winds, high humidity and the temperatures had significantly dropped so we called it quits. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SAEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 49 2 2 312 (NW) 2320 clear none 17:00 49 4 8 326 (NW) 2297 clear none 18:00 51 4 11 282 (WNW) 2497 clear none 19:00 46 0 4 272 (W) 2463 clear none 20:00 41 12 13 76 (ENE) 2568 clear none 21:00 40 14 18 77 (ENE) 2789 clear none 22:00 39 14 24 73 (ENE) 2742 ptly cldy none 23:00 37 17 17 55 (NE) 3132 mstly cldy dust 00:00 35 22 28 72 (ENE) 2909 cloudy dust 01:00 31 20 24 68 (ENE) 3475 mstly clr dust 02:00 28 24 35 69 (ENE) 4644 mstly clr dust 03:00 25 21 31 72 (ENE) 3420 mstly clr dust Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
