Then there was some minor issues that had to be resolved before I could actually run the rotator with Triplespec mounted to it. These took about an additional hour of Fritz's time. I was able to take a pointing model, which I implemented even though it could have been much less error had there been time for an AZ axis remap this afternoon. I exercised the rotator a bit when I did the instrument block for Triplespec but there was not enough time to perform all the tracking tests of the rotator that was on the engineering schedule. Hopefully some time during the day can be used for some of these tracking tests. With just an hour of time left in the night I let the Triplespec group collect some commisioning data. Seeing was moderate to good even though we had variable cloud cover all of second half. No other problems tonight. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SAEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 00:14 TSPEC 32( 279) -18 76 7.6 7.1 7.5 6.6 7.2 Ks 0.99 00:33 GUIDER 157( 351) -34 74 7.4 7.1 7.5 6.5 7.1 R+nd2 0.71 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 53 9 18 257 (WSW) 1724 ptly cldy none 17:00 52 6 22 231 (SW) 1548 mstly clr none 18:00 53 6 27 262 (W) 1135 ptly cldy none 19:00 47 1 21 263 (W) 1281 ptly cldy none 20:00 46 1 19 248 (WSW) 1367 cloudy none 21:00 47 0 14 270 (W) 1235 cloudy none 22:00 47 0 14 271 (W) 1194 ptly cldy none 23:00 47 0 16 272 (W) 1075 mstly cldy none 00:00 45 0 15 271 (W) 795 mstly clr none 01:00 45 0 10 281 (W) 611 ptly cldy none 02:00 45 2 12 291 (WNW) 522 mstly clr none 03:00 45 4 18 295 (WNW) 568 mstly clr none 04:00 43 2 11 284 (WNW) 679 ptly cldy none 05:00 42 3 17 340 (NNW) 791 ptly cldy none 06:00 40 4 7 355 (N) 800 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
